ZAMBIA National Service commander, Lieutenant General Engineer Maliti Solochi II, has called on service personnel at ChikumbiLand Development Unit to uphold discipline, professionalism and integrity as the institution expands its national mandate.
Speaking during an indaba and tour of the unit, Lt-Gen Solochi warned officers against engaging in misconduct that could tarnish the image of the service.
“Discipline is not negotiable in this service. You must be responsible, truthful and always represent ZNS in a manner that brings honour to the institution,” he said.
He cautioned personnel against spreading false recruitment information, rumours and bypassing established communication channels.
“You must avoid spreading false information and rumours. Follow the correct communication channels at all times because your conduct reflects on the integrity of the service,” Lt-Gen Solochi said.
He also stressed that promotions within the service are strictly based on merit and performance.
“Promotion is earned through performance, commitment and meeting the required standards. There are no shortcuts in this institution,” he emphasised.
Lt-Gen Solochi also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to improving staff welfare and professional growth through training.
“As command, we are committed to creating opportunities for your growth through both local and international training, but you must equally position yourselves through discipline, professionalism and dedication to duty,” he said.
